21 Weeks!

I've now hit the point where I have been pregnant longer than what I have left. 21 down 19 to go. That makes it sound so much closer but it's still pretty much 5 months. I have an appointment with my Dr tomorrow afternoon. Should just be a doppler check and those other basic things but I am also going to talk to her about doing a cervical length check. I know that she'll think that there is no reason to but it will make me feel better.

I'll edit the post tomorrow.

You always make me smile...

Oh little D,

Every time I feel you kick, jump, or just wiggle around it brings such a smile to my face. I love feeling you move around and just knowing that you are growing strong. Really I can't not smile when I feel you move, it seriously one of the best things ever and puts butterflies in my tummy and makes my heart beat just a little faster...and reminds me just how blessed and grateful I am that you are here with us and growing healthy!

Keep on growing baby, love you bunches.

Ooh we're halfway there!!

Oh man that Bon Jovi song has been stuck in my head the last few days lol.
Can you believe that we hit the halfway point today? 20 weeks down and 20 to go! I have a feeling that it is going to go by so quickly. Holidays are right around the corner and heck everybody get busy around this time, next thing you know *poof* it will be February!

Since confirming that little D is still a boy we have been talking a bunch about what we want to do for his section of the room (since we will have him in the room with us). So far I believe that we have the paint color we want chosen and a border for the top of the room. We don't plan to get truly started on it though till after the baby show which will be mid November. I am letting Daniel plan a lot of the decor for little D's corner and he is definitely excited about it.

There isn't much difference from Friday/Saturday when I posted one and today. Hmm other random things. That long sleeve purple shirt is probably my new favorite shirt. I love long sleeves to begin with but this one is super comfy and I love that it shows off my little bump, hopefully I can go later and get at least one more shirt. Cravings lately include Chick Fil A and bean/cheese burritos with sour cream and fresh made salsa! Yummo.

As for little D he's about 10.5-11 inches in length and weighs possibly 11oz give or take. (Our tech didn't tell us his measurements at our anatomy scan so I am hoping at my Dr appointment next week they will be able to tell me since I would bet she had it written down on the paper she sent to them). Food comparison wise according to The Bump he is the size of a cantaloupe. We still have lot of time where there will be no activity and then suddenly a burst of activity, never at any specific time though. He does what he wants.

Love you D stay safe and keep growing in there for the next 20 weeks or so!

Anatomy Scan

After several ultrasounds and not having any good profile pictures we finally got a couple today!

Our "skeletor" face shot. You can see the eyelids and little chin.
Finally our little boy is still ALL boy!! So HA to the people who kept telling me "oh it's still to early to tell, they still look the same at this stage, don't get your hopes up".

So after a long 5 weeks of going without seeing or hearing the baby we finally had our anatomy scan today! I was excited to see D again and confirm that he is indeed a boy. Which as you can see from the pictures we did and with little effort I might add. He wasn't hiding much of anything from us today. We got to see his organs, they all looked good and in the correct places. Two kidneys, two brain lobes, four chambers in the heart, arm and leg bones all looked good. He made it difficult for the tech to get a good shot of his hands and feet but she was able too and there are five fingers on each hand and five toes on each little foot. His head was nice a round just like his belly, haha. And his heart rate was 140, he was sleeping again so we didn't have much movement other than the hands and feet moving out of the shot she was trying to get.

I'm so glad that he appears to be growing healthy and strong and right on track (and that he is still a boy)! I have a follow up with my Dr next week to go over the scan results as well as my blood screening, and probably just a doppler check. We hit the half way point in just a couple days!

Pow right in the kisser

Oh little D,

So last night Dad and I were laying in bed and I said to him "Huh I think that D is doing back flips or something he's moving a lot." Dad's reply was "Oh cool...I want to see if I can hear him"
Yes hear him...don't ask me why.

Anyways he kisses my belly says "hi baby" and then puts his head/ear on my belly apparently trying to listen for you.
A minute later POW he got kicked right in the face. It was a strong kick too. The look on his face was priceless! He jumped back and was like "what the heck, was that you?" to which I reply in my laughter "no!" A huge smile came across his face and he was like "oh my gosh he's a strong little guy already...I'm going to feel sorry for you in a couple more months"

I'm still laughing my butt off but stopped and was like "yes thank you I know I'm not going to enjoy my ribs/lungs being used as punching bags." Really little guy I'm not I'll try not to complain to much but keep the rib punches to a minimum, please.

Still smiling ear to ear he goes back to my belly pokes it and says " it again!" then put his head back down. But I guess you were done for the evening and had probably moved further back because there weren't any more big kicks. So I just rolled over and went to sleep.

Oh my goodness it was so funny, Daniel got kicked in the face before little D even made his grand entrance.

Anatomy scan is tomorrow! About 26 more hours. Hopefully our little guy is still a little guy. I would bet that he is but at least then I can totally stop worrying about it and shut people up for good. Hehe. It has been a long month not having any appointments.

It's crazy the change that can happen in just over a weeks time.

We took these pictures yesterday evening (so 19w2d) I think that there us a pretty noticeable difference. Now I actually feel like I look pregnant and not just that I haven't been working out like I should.

Little D has been pretty active again and boy is he already a strong little guy. It seems as though his new favorite thing to do when I am just laying around is go to either side of my belly and push it out making it all disproportional. It's weird but really cool because we're actually able to see him moving around!

Name games

Little D,

Today I asked your dad how he wanted to spell your name, there are a few different ways that it could be spelled so it's just a matter of choosing which spelling we like best.
He said to me, "why are you asking, I thought that we had already had the spelling for his name set" and I will say that I did too but when he spelt your name out for me the way he was thinking we were spelling it, it was different than the spelling I had been thinking we were using.

So I guess it was a good thing that I asked!

It definitely wouldn't be a good thing if your parents didn't even spell your name the same way.
So while I tried talking about it today we didn't get anywhere other than finding out we don't have the spelling set. We have two spellings that we have to choose between (the way I had been spelling it and then the way he had been spelling it) and hopefully he will talk more with me about it when he gets home.
I would just set up a poll and see what spelling "the people" think is best but since we are not telling anybody your name right now (and don't plan to till you are born) we can't. We're on our own here, but don't worry you will have a set spelling for your name by the time you get here!

Update: We settled on a spelling! Daddy really liked the way he was spelling your name best so we're going with that.

19 weeks!

We're 19 weeks today! There's 5 more days till our anatomy scan and obviously just one more week till we hit half way!

Weeks pregnant:
Weight: 110 as of 3 days ago so up 7 pounds total so far.
How I'm feeling: Physically, great I've not been to tired or sore for the most part I would like not to be waking up so early each morning but no real complaints. I would also like to start doing yoga again, I need to get off my lazy butt. Emotionally, I'm super excited about the pregnancy and baby and feel so blessed that everything has been healthy but still worried from time to time.

-Little D is about 10 inches in length from head to toe or 6 inches from head to bottom (depending on what website you read)
-Little D's kidneys are fully functioning which means he will start digesting swallowed amniotic fluids...meaning he will be making his first pee soon (eww) and the process will repeat. Some of this swallow amniotic fluid will also build up and become his first poo.
-Another growth spurt has been happening and will be happening again in the weeks to come so while I may feel bursts of activity little D will be spending a lot of time growing and sleeping.

18 weeks!

18 weeks where has the time gone. One moment it feel like everything is just moving so slowly and the next it's flying by and before I know it we'll be half way there! 12 more days till our anatomy scan! Now for a bump picture.

Believe it or not my uterus is already right below my belly button. Most women apparently don't have their uterus reach their belly button till at least 20 weeks or if they have had previous children. But our little man has measured a little big each time so it's not surprising at all. Granted I still don't really look pregnant but soon enough everybody will be able to tell!

-At 18 weeks little D is about 10 inches long from head to toe (about 6 inches head to rump) and comparable to the same of a papaya.
-Little D's skin is now protected from the amniotic fluid by vernix caseosa.
-Little D is also beginning to gain fatty weight, pretty soon he will look much more baby like with cute chubby cheeks and not like skeletor.

Edit: Geez people are rude.
Joking or not it upset me a bit and yes it's probably just because of hormones. I posted this same bump picture on facebook and had one friend say "Lol you look like you had one too many beers." Ok yes I know I have said that I feel like this but that's me saying it I don't need other people to tell me I just look like I'm getting fat from over eating or unhealthy diet.
The other friend said "You look bigger than me and I'm almost 21 weeks, lol I'm not gaining any weight with this baby." So I went and looked at her pictures and the picture of her bump at 17 weeks looks much bigger than mine does today. Which is fine she's on baby #2 it's expected but seesh why are you trying to make me just feel bad.

I know I'm probably just being overly sensitive about both comments and I know that neither of these girls meant their comments in a rude way what so ever but they bothered me and I deleted them.

A dad to be "shower" aka kick back?

Oh, yes I think so!

I saw this mentioned else where recently and I love the idea.
We still, understandably, focus so much on mom and baby during the pregnancy that the dad sadly just seems to get lost in the background.
I know that people nowadays will have co-ed showers in order to get the dad/men more involved but the shower is often still the same traditional "foofy" stuff that guys don't ever really tend to be interested in.

Now when I mentioned this to him he gave me an odd look and said that it was dumb and doesn't think that any of the guys he knows would be interested but I disagree, and I messaged a few guys who would be on the guest list and they think it's pretty cool, so it's happening.
Now since I am one of those people who LOVES to plan and once an idea is in my head I HAVE to start working on it right then, here is what I already have planned out.

When: Sunday November 20, 2011 12:45PM Cowboys kick off @ 1PM then the Chargers @ 4PM
What: BBQ/Football/Celebrate the soon to be dad Day
What to bring: Asking that the guys attending bring 1 cloth diaper. Food and drinks will be provided so don't worry about that! Bring your appetite and get ready for some football!

So basically all day they would kick back watch football, eat, maybe play video games or cards, and possibly spend a small amount of time doing gift opening. I think that I would also have a board set up for "baby stats bets". Each guy wanting to participate would put in however much money they wanted to and take a guess as to what they think the baby's birth height/weight would be and whoever gets closest wins!

I already have in my head what type of invitations I would like to get and send out to his friends, what food to get, and all those little details. I dunno I think that it's a great idea and that if I were a guy I'd totally go. But then again I love football and food so most times that's enough to get me anywhere.

Oh and I'd get a cake not sure exactly what theme yet but there will be cake!

Anyways what do you think about an idea like this? Am I the only crazy one who thinks this would be a fun way to celebrate the soon to be dad?

"I'm __ week pregnant and craving __" rant.

So I've never been a fan of chain letters. They're just a waste of time in my opinion but I don't get on people who participate in them. I don't know how many of you are on facebook or have seen this new one going around but it bugs me (because I have friends who are feeling hurt by it). It says "____ weeks (pregnant) and craving _____" how many weeks you are and what you re craving is based on your birth month and the day you were born. It claims in the actual chain letter that it is in support and to raise awareness for breast cancer, but please tell me how fooling people into thinking you are pregnant for a moment is doing that.

Now yes one could argue that "well there are a ton of people talking about how absurd it is and has nothing to do with breast cancer and they are now talking about it, so it technically is raising awareness" and yes on that one point it is true. But seriously if you really want to effectively support and raise awareness for breast cancer survivors/research/and those fighting it just be straight forward about your post. Post statistics of how many women & MEN get breast cancer each year. Post about how far treatment has come and what survival rates are now. Sign up for a walk-a-thon and raise money to donate something that actually tells people about it. Not these stupid "games" that I truly feel are just to confuse the boys. Which also doesn't make sense to me because men can fall victim to breast cancer as well. And if you are trying to actually raise awareness about something why keep people in the dark about it?

I recall when the first chain letter for breast cancer awareness started. Girls would post the color of the bra that they were wearing. Again it's stupid to me but at least I can see how that more so relates to breast cancer (looking at it in the "I'm lucky to be wearing a bra because some women have to have mastectomy" way.) The ones that have followed with talking about where you put your purse when you get home, your shoe size, and now "being pregnant" have nothing to do with it.

I feel that this particular "game" though is worse than the rest because I have people I care about who are being hurt by it. Maybe that doesn't make sense to you but think about it like this. You are a grieving mother who has recently (or even not recently but still grieving) suffered the loss of a child specifically while pregnant you are heartbroken and want nothing to do with anything baby or pregnancy related. Then you log onto your facebook and are hit in the face with 6 or 7 friends in a row all posting this "game". Since you don't know that it's a game you have to assume that they are in fact _____ number of weeks pregnant and this is how you are finding out about it. Obviously this "game" was not intended to be hurtful to those in this above mention situation but it is.

So if you have a facebook and want to really bring awareness to breast cancer post a real status about it or a support ribbon not these stupid "games".

*Sorry for my pregnancy scatter brain the post is jumping cause of that*

So stinkin cute!

How cute is my husband? He made a blog to the baby (I only found out about it yesterday). Right now he only has one entry but when I read it yesterday it made me tear up. He's going to be such a great daddy! Here is the link to the blog he made if you want to ever check it out and leave him a comment (he'll feel more encouraged to write more if you leave him a comment here and there, lol)

On a side note 160 days left (give or take) till February gets here and we will be meeting our little man! That means that there is only 2 months till we hit the 100 days left milestone which means we will also be hitting the viability milestone!
18 days till our anatomy ultrasound! I am hoping to get a really good profile picture and some feet as well. And, maybe I'll have "popped" by then.
